PI-CHENG c.1016-76 Chinese Inventor Pi-Cheng, or Bi Sheng, was an obscure commoner who is the inventor of printing with moveable types. Pi-Cheng cut characters into cubes of clay and put them into an iron frame. When the frame was full the whole made one solid block of type ready to print. |
