The British-French Colonial War (1754-63) Large immigration increased the pressure by the 400 000 British settlers on the thinly settled French colonial lands. War broke out in the Ohio valley in 1754. As a result of the war Great Britain gained Canada and Louisiana from France, and Florida from Spain.
