Gutenberg's invention of the printing press had monumental impact - it led
quickly to a mass production of books and truly initiated
the information age.
Previously, Luther's theological disagreement with Rome would have remained a minor dispute, but thanks to Gutenberg's invention the new ideas spread across Europe within a few years. The Reformation, the Renaissance, and the following scientific period of the 17th century can hardly be contemplated without printed books. |
