He said, ' What you do not like done to yourself, do not unto others' several hundred years before Jesus pronounced this rule.

His concepts of benevolence, ritual and propriety became state ideology during the Han times. Even the emperors considered Confucius the 'teacher of teachers' and bowed at his shrine. The principles he taught are still the ideals of millions of people.
