HUANG-TSUNG 685 - 762 Chinese Emperor Huang-tsung (also Xuanzong) was a powerful emperor of the Tang dynasty. During his reign (712 - 756) Tang China reached its greatest prosperity and power. He built an extensive canal network.
Under him the famous Han-lin academy
in Chang-an was established and the first newspaper in the world printed.
After his death a period of neglect and rebellion followed and the Tang
dynasty declined.
