Han Wen-ti (Cultured Emperor) was the fourth emperor of the Han dynasty, whose reign was characterized by the introduction of court scholars who instructed the emperor in political philosophy.

Emperor Wen-ti prevented the re-establishment of feudalism in China through legislation for the protection of the peasants.

He also promoted Confucianism.
In foreign affairs Wen-ti preferred diplomatic means to arms in dealing with the unending threat of nomadic tribes along the northern border.
