MITHRIDATES
132 - 63 BC
King of Pontos

Mithridates VI was the king of Pontus, a kingdom on the Black Sea in Asia Minor.

To make his power in Asia secure Mithridates ordered every Roman in Asia Minor put to death. It has been recorded that 80,000 Romans were murdered in one day. He then sent an army to Greece where he was fighting the Roman armies.

Inspite of Greek support he was finally defeated by Roman armies. In 74 BC he was driven back beyond the Caucasus Mountains by the Roman general Pompey.
