Hiram was the Phoenician king of Tyre, a biblical ally of the Jewish kings David and Solomon.

He cooperated with Solomon supplying him with material for the construction of the temple in Jerusalem. He developed extensive trade in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean which provided his capital Tyre with wealth.
