Saint PATRICK
c.387 - c.493
British Missionary

Patrick was captured at age 16 by Irish raiders but returned to England after six years of slavery. In 432, a vision led him to return to Ireland as a missionary bishop.

The patron Saint of Ireland is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. He wrote two books, a spiritual autobiography 'Confessio', and 'Epistola', a denunciation of British mistreatment of Irish Christians.
