Saint Luke, the first non-Jewish apostle and the reputed author of the gospel named after him.

Luke was probably born at Antioch in Syria. He was already a Christian when he met Paul. Biblical scholars believe that Luke accompanied Paul on two of his missionary journeys, and that he kept a diary of their travels.

Among notable parables found only in Luke's Gospel are those of the good Samaritan and the prodigal son. The Gospels
