PHILO c.25 BC - c.AD 45 Jewish Philosopher Philo of Alexandria was a Greek-speaking Jewish philosopher who attempted to synthesize faith and philosophical reason. In his philosophy Philo was prepared to concede a good deal to Hellenism in his interpretation of the Bible. He was the first to distinguish between the knowability of God's existence and the unknowability of his essence. |
