The Middle East and North African protests are a revolutionary wave of demonstrations and
protests which have been taking place in the Middle East and North Africa since Dec.18, 2010.
There have been revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia; a civil war in Libya; major protests in Algeria,
Bahrain, Djibouti, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Oman and Yemen; and minor protests in Kuwait, Lebanon,
Mauritania, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Western Sahara.
The protests shared techniques of civil resistance,
as well as the use of social media such as Facebook and Twitter to communicate
and raise awareness in the face of attempts at state repression.
