The Synchronoptic Concept

Synchronoptical  means seeing at the same time, or more accurately parallel views.

The Synchronoptic History Chart is a timeline using visual art forms
( maps, graphics, colours ) in combination with textual information.
Its main purpose is to convey a perspective of world historical events, and to enable the reader to hold simultaneously in mind of what was happening in widely separated parts of the earth.

A spatial representation of time has obvious educational advantages: here history is no longer learned but viewed.

Multimedia: HyperHistory
Today it seems as if the Synchronoptic Chart anticipated a medium like the Internet where the World Wide Web offers a wealth of opportunity to expand the synchronoptic concept almost indefinitely.

HyperHistory will thus serve as the nucleus to organize an ever growing number of relevant webpages from around the world into a comprehensible organic system.
